i'm seriously printing out the abstract for martin/paul th (my new shorthand for tinkerhess). martin wants to be a doctor (he's doing EMT cert now) and paul will take it as an argument for birkenstocks and will probably tell dozens of people about it.
today he told me about when he was walking down a beach with martin (then 4 or 5) and all the sudden saw nelson mandela and went up to shake his hand. he introduced his son and proudly stated he was named after MLK. nelson mandela looked at him blankly, as paul realized that he automatically associated the only two famous black men that he knew, who were not really ethnically similar at all.
